Iris Miranda

Poet (Puerto Rico)
Iris Miranda was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico in 1961. At an early age, her grandmother made the discovery of her first written poem and celebrate it welcoming with the same joy all of the following poems till the year she passed away. Iris Miranda obtained her degrees of B. A. in Hispanic Studies (1987) and M. A. in Hispanic Studies (2000) at the University of Puerto Rico. She has worked as a proofreader testing, creative, and workshops speaker, giving lectures on the subjects of university education and poetry. She collaborates with the International Poetry Festival in Puerto Rico and has coordinated several literary contests. She is currently part of the Faculty of the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in Hato Rey. Mrs. Miranda belongs to the poets of the Generation of 1980, and her works have been published in electronic journals such as En la orilla.net, Isla Negra, Sequoyah Virtual, Delirium Tremens, En sentido figurado.com, among others. She has two books published at the time and two more on its way: Noches de luna: embelesos y melismas (Orbis, 2007) and Alcoba Roja (La Iguana, 2011).
